Yo Adri .. er .. Andie

My father died at 62. Michele's mom and dad just celebrated their 73 wedding anniversary.

Did your pop ever go by the Big Band Bopper? Do you have recordings of him performing!

Oops must have used Michele's login!

Yo Bruce - Michele's parents are amazing. I told her at Rosie's that I still remember exactly what her beautiful mother looked like.  ~  I do have some recordings that Dad made, but they're old scratchy 78s. He sang with Frank Comstock's orchestra, a "big band." Mom was his groupie.

This was before either of the Big Wars. Great grandma Maria and Uncle Urho in Finland 1910. My grandfather was preparing to move the entire family back to Finland and took Urho first. He never finished the task, but Urho did return to Michigan. Hedwig (grandma) was soooo happy to see him.

It appears that I got Urho's nose.

And for AJAH, Frank and Co.

Almost all of Comstock's recordings were originally released on vinyl LPs and singles. Most of them have been reissued on CD and can also be heard on music streaming services. (but no list provided, yet).

Shouldn't "The Big Bopper" deserve quotes?

It was 1963 afterall, so I imagine not too many here made it back to the show, reprised here without commercial interruptions. Show was originally scheduled as a December birthday tribute to me, but scheduling  problems pushed it over into January.

Nothing to you maybe, but that's King Curtis on sax.

I don't recall my parents talking about the war. My mom did make the Everett Pacific Shipbuilding News 9-28-1945.

Here are some of my favorite Christmas movies and TV specials:

The 1947 Miracle on 34th Street is a very good movie.  Edmund Gwenn was a great Santa Clause. The remakes of this movie don't come close to the quality of this 1947 version.

Another all time favorite is the 1951 A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim.  Sim is the best scrooge ever in my opinion.  The 1938 version with Reginald Owen is shown a lot on TV but Sim is a much better scrooge.

The 1945 Christmas in Connecticut with Barbara Standwick is another good one.

Christmas Vacation with Chubby Chase is funny.

During Christmas/New Years season I like to watch Radio Days by Woody Allen. There are good stories and neat scenes shot in the New York area including inside Radio City Music Hall.

There are some good old TV shows also:

House Without a Christmas Tree is an excellent 1973 special starring Jason Robards and Lisa Luke. For those of us who remember the late 1940s and early 1950s this is a great story about a family in a small town in 1946. Very well acted. I highly recommend this one.  They also did a good one for Thanksgiving called A Thanksgiving Treasure.

I always enjoy watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, done over 50 years ago.

All of these are available on Amazon.com and many on Nextflix, Hulu etc.

There are colorized versions of Miracle on 34th Street and A Christmas Carol.

A House Without a Christmas Tree is also on Youtube.  The outside scenes were filmed in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada.  The house is still there but painted a different color.

Below is part 1:

I think Jimmy Stewart was filming Hawkins at UCI.

I kinda remember the coat.

Also at UCI, The Apes - I had an office right near by. Someone, I can't remember who, ended up with an ape mask.

This was at Century City where I ended up a few years later.

I've never found a photo, but Dwight Stones high jumped six Playboy bunnies in the same arena.

This isn't it, but you get the idea.

I've just been browsing the 1964 alumni pages and since I usually just look at this page I've noticed some things

I missed -

Post war housing and the Notorious Dee Gee Market. No clues as to the name of businesses nearby.

Yes Shayne she did graduate in 1964 and went on to a great career selling MC's for Sonny (right down the block from Oscar's Nat'l City (my former home town, along with Rosie (not that one, the Originals one)).

Anyone remember our ninth grade alge_bra :) teacher?

Who is that with the hat and shades?

Is that Hanano with Paul Hall? How did Dick get two photos in the collage? Ditto Paul Haul.

Rarely used phrase whilst we were in high school. Come to think of it, I never heard the word "supercomputer" in those days either. The video is noteworthy too.

This psychedelic NASA video shows how CO2 spreads in the atmosphere

Responding to post #2405. The dude in the beret and shades is Hal Payne. Why he is wearing French attire as the resident Spanish teacher remains a mystery. Near the bottom center, I recognize my mischievous brother "breaking" someone's arm. Goofy 7th graders. Jennie Booth, upper right.

Bruce, I had Mr.Kronzer for algebra in 9th grade at HJHS. He had a daughter named Kay who was I believe a year behind us. I remember the class well because it was the first time I really had to pay attention to get a decent grade. Humbling.

G, I remember Mr. Kronzer and Kay, though I'd forgotten he taught Algebra. Mrs. Cole was always fiddling with her bra strap. She explained once mathematically why a spoked wheel, given trhe right circumstances, appears to be spinning backwards. I can still do math, so I learned some other  things too, but that's what stiicks with me.

T, that's Rick with Jeanie (the way she spelled it when she signed my book in ninth grade and I'm sticking to it) . and I didn't recognize your brother.

Madeline and Lynn down near bottom and possibly a Zakarian with hand over face? Who is the guy with his glasses on his forehead?

Also, the mystery girl below what appears to be Mr. Anderson's butt down at the bottom?

Here's the other half.

Kaye second from viewer's left - top row.

Sun block you say?

This has to be pretty old. The DePree Co. of Holland MI no longer exists and the package doesn't list ingredients. I wonder if it made the trip from Detriot to Everret to National City to CV.

Pam Layton in Mr. Anderson's proximity.? Mr, Roberts(who taught driver training at HHS in the summer of 1962) to his left. I don't think that's a Zakarian with hand over face but the twins are along the top of pic #2 with the hats.

Why thank you, Michele.

BTW, I stil have that Ducati you sold me and I'm gonna sign up for that Social Security program FDR created for my birthday.

I just happened to notice that the newspaper (SD UT) no longer prints the number of  pages on the front page.

It has shrunk in size similarly to other newspapers as well.

NY Times 1964 and 2011.

Hi Shayne: Thanks and back to you.

Meanwhile, the Administration has accepted my claim (same day they accepted Trump).

I was talking about graffiti here a long ways back.  Here's a sample from my former home town of Nat'l City.
