"Sounds" good to us.

I wonder if former trumpeteer (two years ahead of us) and accomplished bagpipes player, John Romero, still plays out there in Balboa Park.

If it was one week later we could even take the new HOV lane at East Palomar and HWY 805.

Septemeber 6, 2016 is the scheduled opening date for the bridge access lane, which was part of the $1.4 Billion, one year (groan [sic] to three) project. Maybe photos later today.

LLWS

CV won't be there, but the final is today.  Noon. South Korea vs. Endwell NY.

May be a tipoff in the name of the American squad's home base.

Doesm't seem fair that a whole country is playing a small New York town (population around 11K).

RAMP UP MY FRIENDS!

The $1.4 Billion HWY 805 project is drawing [slowly] to a close. I'm not going to be the first down the ramp, since the worker I was talking to today has already done it.

Keep it quiet, but I may become the first to skateboard down it.

For some folks who maybe haven't been back in the area for  a long time this is the southbound center ramp off the highway onto East Palomar. As I predicted a very long time ago, although never depicted in the mock-ups of the project, there are indeed traffic lights at the top of the ramp.

Big thank you to Linda K/Rosie O-M, for a great idea to meet at Balboa Park and listen to music from the "olden days". A lot of 70-ish people there. And recommend it for future activity if you enjoy music. They evidently have a program during the summer and the price is great....free.

The evening was filled with fun and good music. Great idea, Linda. I have a photo, but can't remember how to post it. Any one tried to post a photo from an iPhone? If so, I welcome the advice.

Treasa:

From an iPhone you would go into Safari and log onto the site and follow the same sequence as for uploading from a computer.

Alternatively email it to me or Sharon.

Here's the latest on the I-805 bridge and access ramps. There are four sections of the bridge fencing that look similar to this. This girl seems to hang out at the bridge alot and jumped in right as I was clicking the camera.

So, four decorative sections, at a cost of $$??. Any guesses?

Treasa,

A couple of other alternatives:

1. Send a message with the picture from your iPhone to your computer email address (You can send to emails from iPhones).  Then save the picture and upload it to the Message Forum using the image button on the top left tool bar.

OR

2. Connect your iPhone to a USB port on your computer--using the same cable you use to charge the phone. Then go into your files on your computer and you will see the iPhone connection that looks like mine below. The pictures will be under one of the DCIM folders. You can then upload using the image button as with any picture.

This bottom has my iPhone pictures

Bruce & George-Thank you for your suggestions. I will give it a try. If I am successful, you will see the photos from the concert on Thursday night at the Organ Pavilion.

Just in case any out-of-towners read this Forum. Here's something we did not see growing up. Polo at Coronado Beach today and yesterday. Not as interesting as Marilyn Monroe (to me anyway), but noteworthy nonetheless.

She walks these sands in a long black veil.

Not as pretty as Michele, but in the same class and MM and I never dated whereas MW and I ....

I had never seen this one before, which must make it unique, eh?

Addendum:

Horses were allowed, just no Polo, sorry Ralph.

Not that Ralph really cares all that much. His ranch in Southwest Colorado near my friends Gig and Annette. Some 16,000 acres below the San Juans. The Double RL Ranch

Not Gig and Annette, Ralph and Ricky.

I am told that although Ralph Lauren had nothing to do with those colorful panels on the Palomar Street Bridge, they cost  almost $500,000.

Yikes

Brian Teacher went to Crawford  and was  about 8 years younger than most of us. He was an exceptional tennis player and I've met and talked with him several times. We used to hang out at the same gym and he was just a nice guy to talk to. At the time I had no idea who he was.

An uplifting video. BTW, he's had two hip replacements, an under publizied concomitant of professional tennis. Watch out Carl B.

Here are the photos from the Tursday concert at the Organ Pavilion. The group--The Legends--did a great job bringin' back the oldies. Karen brought amazing macaroon cookies w/real coconut and dark chocolate. Rosie brought delicious choc chip oatmeal cookies. Good fellowship and good music--a good combination!

Question for Dr. Maple -

It's nearly time for your book signing her in California. Where and when? Have a lovely birthday.

My party will begin at 6:00 p.m. in suite 1401 of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, Saturday night, September 10th. We'll be drinking beer and eating cake, and I'll be signing deeply discounted books. I hope to see you and other classmates at this zooey gathering of primates.

Opposable thumbs up on the party.

Is that USC guy still going to be the missing Link?

We took a hike down to IB to visit Vincent Price's old house (didn't know about it, eh?).

We passed the now torn down RV park right at the start of HWY 75. It's going to be the site of about 185 condos.

In this photo, remember when the upper left portion where the Cays are now was a dump?

There will be an addition to the existing bikepath.

09/11/2016 ~  "On The Banks Of Imperial Beach." ~ Wow! Thank you Bruce for great pictures of 'The Sloughs', Bird Sanctuary/River Reserve in Imperial Beach,, (post #2311),~ Sometime during the late 60's.. along with Paul & Maggie Smith & Peter Brown, artists @ Southwestern J.C,. we happened to have access to a canoe with a genuine working sail that took us (flying) sailing (almost) all the way to the T.J. border where you could see the T.J. Bull-Ring,, & then with ropes attached, we would pull our homemade sailboat all the way back, (this huge canoe even had a motor that worked occasionally), & then 'Shoot the Sloughs", (not the Pier), again! Where did we get all that energy!?,, How many miles is that to the border?,, What fun!,,, What? Another great memory!  Thank you Bruce for perpetually jogging our 'Memory Banks!'... Good/nice work!   Linda L. Keating  09/11/2016

Like the Otay Mesa dump, the Coronado dump was preceded by a pig farm. It apparently wasn't a popluar place to photograph, but this purports to be it.

There do not appear to be a lot of photos of Free Bros Market either.

The fence is now gone and the area is being transformed to new Navy Seals facility..

It seems that the facility was referred to as the:

Wullenweber Antenna Array, Naval Radio Receiving Facility on the Coronado Silver Strand.

Kite surfers seem to be a friendlier, less aggressive group the other kind.

A number of tributes to surfing in IB. This is one. Right near the South Jetty where the old life guard station was. Did not see Mike McCombs anywhere though.
