Carl Ramsey passed from this life on September 1, 2014 from cancer. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Alyce. He was an incredible artist, and his beautiful work can be seen at http://www.carlramsey.net/. He was Larry Sorensen's fishing buddy.  I hadn't seen Carl for many years, but he graciously gifted Dennis and me with one of his amazing prints. I remember him from Rosebank School as one of my kindergarten classmates who lived on F Street, just a couple blocks away. His parents were friends of my parents. He was an amazing pitcher in high school, a lefty, and in the concert band and marching band. Carl was quiet, but his amazing talent can be seen on his website. His wife, Alyce, writes of him: "I’m very sorry to have to tell you that Carl died yesterday. He was here at home with me and died peacefully in his sleep.

"For Carl coming to terms with his mortality had been an on-going process, but I want to share with you that his best response to this was an appreciation of the life he has been able to lead, growing up in semi-rural Chula Vista, trips to Mississippi to see family, an interest in bugs and science, playing baseball, fly-fishing, good meals, his painting, and most of all his good friends.

"Last week was the 29 year anniversary of when we met (on Hot Creek!), and I was 29 when that happened. Knowing him and living with him for half my life has been the best experience of my life. ...He was a wonderful man; smart, funny, talented and kind. I will miss him very much, but am glad he isn’t suffering any more."
